This engaging class focuses on creating a new project each week while learning the methods and techniques of handbuilding. Handbuilding involves shaping clay with your hands to craft fun, decorative, and occasionally functional pieces that are artistically unique. This class also involves painting and decorating your project. All projects must have a clear coat and be fired in a kiln before they can be taken home. It's essential that projects are completely dry prior to being placed in the kiln. Please allow 2 to 3 weeks for projects to be ready for pickup.
Clay Mastery: Students will gain skills in working with clay and understand the various stages it undergoes to become a finished piece of art.
Attention to Detail: This medium demands patience and a keen eye for detail, as rushing or neglecting essential instructions can lead to challenges in mastering the craft.
Careful Consideration: Ceramics can be prone to cracking, drying out, or even exploding during firing if students do not take careful consideration when building with clay.
Class Duration:2 hours, 2 days a week (Tuesday/Thursday) (12:30-2:30pm)
Cost:$500 for an 6-week class (Classroom max size: 10)
